Cecily is doing really well adjusting to her new role as big sister. She calls Rosemary "Mary" (which makes Rory "secretly" happy since this is his all-time favorite name). So surprisingly we have started to call little Rosemary--Mary most of the time.Rosemary is unphased by any noises, tantrums, and ear-piercing screams her big sister might make. However, Cecily is not so immune to Rosemary's desperate cries for food, or the deafening explosions she makes into her diaper (OK so she's not that loud, but it is impressive the way someone so small can explode in her little newborn diaper). Cecily suddenly needs to eat cheese whenever Rosemary starts to cry. The slightest wimper from "Mary" is enough to wake her from a good nap. I keep forgetting to turn on background noise when I put her down for her nap. (Eventually my brain may start working again... I hope!)
Cecily, however, is a great helper. She is always asking to "hold it!," "Kiss it!", "Hug it!" (At this point refering to her sister as 'it" is a non-malicious act, and sounds pretty cute coming from an 18 month old) When holding her she also likes to "Lay down." Cecily has become a very sweet mother to her baby dolls (who she sometimes calls "Honey" or "Mary." She walks around the house exclaiming "Oh my goodness." And she is the only one still enthusiastic about changing Rosemary's many diapers.
All in all Cecily is the perfect big sister. We are all pleased with our new little addition!
