New in Town!

Rosemary is 3 weeks old already! I just can't believe it! She is getting chubbier everyday! We just adore her... well she is pretty adorable!

She is starting to take longer breaks between feedings. She is also taking better naps in her bassinet. We put Rory's pocket watch in there with her. She seems to like the ticking of the clock.

I am still waking up in the morning ready for a nap... but the fact that I am blogging right now... well, it's pretty much amazing!

Falling in Love

I really love the fall. All of a sudden trees that you have driven by for months suddenly become the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. It's time to pull out the fleece and flannel. I have even donned a pair of Smart Wool socks for the first time this season. (For those of you with constantly cold extremities...these socks are great... they really keep me warm with out having to wear really bulky wool socks.) On the same inaugural Smart Wool Day, I also enjoyed a Soy Chai Latte... the first hot drink of the season. Yum! What a treat~ Next up is a Starbucks Pumpkin Hot Chocolate! It's time to enjoy all the pumpkin baked goods as well. This blog is really starting to make me hungry!
Along with our fall decorations I have also been enjoying my fall music. The artists/albums that I really enjoy this time of year are Norah Jones, Allison Krause, Rosie Thomas and an instrumental CD called something like Classical Guitar. It's all very relaxing especially with all the pumpkin spice and maple candles lit. I love these artists anyways, but it is funny how much they actually reference the fall in their songs.
Here are a few pictures of Cecily enjoying the fall.
In the picture above she is showing the craft that she made at our playgroup Sprouts. Our theme was A is for Apple.
This is her Picasso rendition of Jonny Appleseed.
I like to call this picture: "Tut Tut it Looks Like Rain"
A very happy Fall to you... may you enjoy a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, a cup of spiced cider and a walk in the leaves on a crisp day.

Rose Bug

Here is Rosemary testing out her new quilts. This beautiful bright quilt was made for her from our friend at church Bea Berry. The other blanket was bought for her by her Grandma Bear (Rory's mom) as part of her crib set from Target. The ladybug themed nursery has been so much fun!

Mary Wore Her Red Shoes

Here is Rosemary in her first and favorite pair of shoes. My good friend Crystal made them for Cecily Jane because she thought she needed a pair of Mary Janes. Unfortunately they are so sweet and petite that when Cecily received them I couldn't get her little foot in them. So Mary got to wear them. It is funny that I have both a Mary and a Jane and so it only fits that they should both wear Mary Janes from day one. It also fits that they are red because we like to sing the Raffi song "Mary wore her red dress," to our little Mary- all day long.

Our Big Girl

Cecily is now 18 months. She is learning so much every day! She really keeps us laughing! Here are a few of her latest adventures. Cecily still really likes to color. She is coming right along with learning her colors.

This week she decided to make her tent nice and "cozy." She started gathering pillows and blankets from around the house and putting them in her tent. Then she goes in there and relaxes and sings herself little songs and talks to herself.

She also has to have "hair pretties" in her hair at all times. Here is one of daddy's more creative hair- dos. He calls it the "triceratops."

Sweet little face

Here is a closer look at our Rosemary Elizabeth. She is doing really well. She is a great nurser and is content after she eats. She poops all day long and even sleeps some of the night. (Cecily had lots of trouble nursing and had a lot of tummy trouble... rarely pooped.... so the fact that Rosemary eats and poops so well-- makes us EXTRA HAPPY!)

Her eyes are still blue... we are sure that they will turn to brown, but they probably won't be as dark as Rory's and Cessy's. Her hair is brown, but it is looking a bit Strawberry Blond on the sides and underneath. We think that she looks like Jen and her brother Darren.
We love having Rosemary in our arms and we're so glad that she is here!
This is a picture of Jen as a newborn (we took a picture of a picture in her baby book... explains the date on the photo)

"Hold It"

Cecily is doing really well adjusting to her new role as big sister. She calls Rosemary "Mary" (which makes Rory "secretly" happy since this is his all-time favorite name). So surprisingly we have started to call little Rosemary--Mary most of the time.
Rosemary is unphased by any noises, tantrums, and ear-piercing screams her big sister might make. However, Cecily is not so immune to Rosemary's desperate cries for food, or the deafening explosions she makes into her diaper (OK so she's not that loud, but it is impressive the way someone so small can explode in her little newborn diaper). Cecily suddenly needs to eat cheese whenever Rosemary starts to cry. The slightest wimper from "Mary" is enough to wake her from a good nap. I keep forgetting to turn on background noise when I put her down for her nap. (Eventually my brain may start working again... I hope!)
Cecily, however, is a great helper. She is always asking to "hold it!," "Kiss it!", "Hug it!" (At this point refering to her sister as 'it" is a non-malicious act, and sounds pretty cute coming from an 18 month old) When holding her she also likes to "Lay down." Cecily has become a very sweet mother to her baby dolls (who she sometimes calls "Honey" or "Mary." She walks around the house exclaiming "Oh my goodness." And she is the only one still enthusiastic about changing Rosemary's many diapers.
All in all Cecily is the perfect big sister. We are all pleased with our new little addition!

The Necklace

Cecily loves to put things under her chin and call it her "necklace." Here is one of her creative necklaces. Enjoy the video!

Rosemary Elizabeth Adams

Here she is, the newest member of our family. She was born Saturday night weighing 7lbs 3.6 ozs. and 20.5". Jen doesn't feel like sitting in front of the computer at this time so this post won't be as eloquent, witty, or altogether informative as you're used to from us.

Basically, we went into the hospital on Saturday morning for a scheduled induction. Things started off pretty slowly as Jen spent most of the day lying around, not feeling many contractions. We were concerned that they were going to have to get more aggressive with the induction process but when Jen was checked out at about 4pm she was farther along than we thought. So they broke her water and things really got going. The labor got more intense but Jen was able to get through it without any pain meds. The labor was difficult but only lasted about 4 hours.
God was very gracious and answered our prayers and yours. Thanks to everyone for your support. We are going to be taking some time to adjust at home and won't be traveling long distances or making too many public appearances, but feel free to call or email us. We'd love to have visitors once we get settled a little.
And for those who are wondering, Cecily loves having a new little sister. She wants to be involved and "hold it". She also says Rosemary is "nice" as she pats her head. Rosemary was crying today and Cecily said she needed a "binky".
Here are a few more pics:
