Spin Cycle

You know you have reached a new point in life when you start fantasizing about washer/dryers. I had been dreaming of a front loader that actually spun the water out of the diapers (and remained on balance in the process). Then out of the blue it was made possible... Rory's step-dad found these and talked the price down. He's letting us pay him back over time. It has really made a difference. Our old washer could only hold three towels comfortably before it started to kerplunk- slam-wham- dunk... if you are familiar with the sound, you know what I mean.

The washer has not only provided greater laundry, and water efficiency it has also provided the girls with hours of entertainment. Here they are waiting for their clothes to wash. (Just kidding, they just both happen to be in their underwear!)

For the birds

As you can see from the video we have had some interesting visitors. I firmly believe that this crow spies on us. He peeks in the window and waits until I have just gotten out of the shower and then starts knocking. With out fail his first knock always sounds exactly like someone knocking on the door. After his first knock... he waits, laughing while I frantically throw clothes on muttering under my breath about those strangers who go door to door handing out pamphlets at the worst time. I frantically run into the living room... dressed presentably (as in... I at least have clothes on) and then the little bugger, as if to mock me, starts knocking again. And then he keeps on knocking.... all the live long day. Cecily just looks up and says, "Big Crow... Cute." At least someone thinks he's cute.

Before and After- Extreme Room Makeover!

Here is some documentation of the fact that we FINALLY conquered the office. It has been a mess for sooo long. When Rory got some much needed time off we turned our attention to the extreme office/nursery make over. We got some much needed shelf and storage units so we actually had a place to put things away. We also took a large pile of stuff to the local thrift shop.

We set the room up to be one part nursery and one part office. Which is an interesting marriage between Rory's black bear decorations and the NewB's ladybug motif. We are sure that ladybugs and black bears coexist in the wild...so why not in our house too?

I feel like this room can finally participate as a functional part of the house. It is also fun to see it come together as a great place to welcome our little NewB home to.

Let's Be Honest!

Since our move to our house...way back in January, we have been slowly getting moved in and settled. We've needed to purchase storage for the closets, and we've needed some quality time to put into it. Here is a picture that makes me laugh! Rory snapped this action shot. He happened to capture the house with it! This was taken right after he got home from camp, and we had spent the day at the zoo. Trips in quick succession definitely work to the demise of the house. But you can see we receive a great deal of help from Cecily around the house. She makes sure the tupperware is always were we can trip on it, and she does a great job scattering various items around the house.

The good news is that Rory and I spent our vacation at home... getting ready for the new baby and finally unpacking.

However, here is a video of our living room on a good day. Sorry it's kind of long. It is funny because our house is not that big. I guess I wanted to give a detailed tour.

We moved!

Rory and I have been blessed! We were able to buy a home! We still can't believe it. We had been looking off an on for over a year. There was not a lot available in our price range, and what was available required a ton of work and money just to make it livable.

However, God provided a home for us that was in our price range, and that has required only minimal repairs. We are still living out on the Peninsula, just farther down. We bought a double wide manufactured home that has three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. We were so crammed into our little apartment that we quickly spread out and filled up the house. It was quite amazing!

We have been working hard, unpacking, painting, finding places for everything and making this place feel like home.

This video shows the house on the first night we bought it. Stay tuned for a tour that shows all our hard work. We have definately had fun painting and decorating. Thanks to all of you who have slaved over the house with us (especially our parents- Beth, Noel, Cliff and Lillian)!
