For the Love of Kittens

Those of you who know and love Rory well... you know about his love affair with cats. I have never met someone who has so much love and affection for the animal. As a child I had a beloved cat named Purrie (I named him in the first grade... give me a break!) Anyway, that was an extraordinary cat... so I can understand where he is coming from. But I loved my cat... Rory loves all of cat kind. I remember walking to class in college and seeing him in the bushes petting cats. That's why no Christmas is complete without one or two cat calendars.
I knew Rory loved me when he decided he could give up cats and marry me. I have asthma so having a cat in the house is not a good plan most of the year (that's why I only ever had one cat).

So, when our good friends asked him to watch their kittens while they were on vacation-- he jumped at the chance. Not only was it a great opportunity to pet the cats but it was a great chance to indoctrinate Cecily.

Rory feels that Cecily has been around far more dogs than cats. However, despite that her favorite stuffed animal is her "kitty" and her favorite book is "God Made Kittens." Here is a picture of daddy and Cecily reading her book about kittens with her "Kitty."

Watermelon, Watermelon

Here are a few pics of our little watermelon! We're getting closer! I think these pictures were taken at about 33 weeks.
This is my little gift from Rory that he brought back for me and the NewB from Guatemala. He thought it was perfect... a little ladybug in a watermelon. We're doing our nursery-- pink and green with ladybugs.

Rainbow Sprite

Cecily reminds me of a little Sprite from that wonderful 80's cartoon Rainbow Brite. This tee shirt was made for her at VBS this year. She loves to play dress up and brings it to me to help her get it on. However after putting it on her the other day she announced "hat up" and suceeded in pulling the shirt back up on her head like a hood. In these pictures she is trying to sit in her chair AND hold/put on these shoes from Alexis Meeks (they are too big for her right now...all the better to play dress up with!) Who really needs toys?

More Rainbow Fun in the pool!

Let's Be Honest!

Since our move to our house...way back in January, we have been slowly getting moved in and settled. We've needed to purchase storage for the closets, and we've needed some quality time to put into it. Here is a picture that makes me laugh! Rory snapped this action shot. He happened to capture the house with it! This was taken right after he got home from camp, and we had spent the day at the zoo. Trips in quick succession definitely work to the demise of the house. But you can see we receive a great deal of help from Cecily around the house. She makes sure the tupperware is always were we can trip on it, and she does a great job scattering various items around the house.

The good news is that Rory and I spent our vacation at home... getting ready for the new baby and finally unpacking.

However, here is a video of our living room on a good day. Sorry it's kind of long. It is funny because our house is not that big. I guess I wanted to give a detailed tour.

The Budding Artist

Cecily has discovered the joys of coloring. It is now one of her favorite past times! I love her concentration... it's so cute! She is doing a good job echoing us as we hand her the colors. She really likes to say "yellow" and "red." She of course has no idea which colors are yellow or red, but she sure likes to color with all the colors. Mommy and Daddy like this new activity that keeps her busy and confined to the high chair... for just a little bit!

Here is Cecily enjoying herself at a restraunt in Victoria where you get to color on the table top.

Daddy is Back!

Cecily and I are super excited to report that Daddy is back from Guatemala. He had a wonderful trip, and as soon as I can sort through the 900 plus pictures taken by the team, I will post some pics on the blog for all to see. He had a great trip, with a wonderful team and an amazing time with God. We'll report more details on that soon!
Here is Cecily and Rory the morning that he got home. He was afraid that she wouldn't be very excited to see him, or that maybe she wouldn't remember him. His fears were for naught... because when he went into her room to get her up that morning she couldn't have been more happy to see her daddy. She was absolutely delighted and gave him some really nice snuggles when he picked her up. Then she didn't want to let him out of her sight for a few days. In fact we were called into the nursery at church to get her (for the first time ever) because she was too worried (and therefore SCREAMING her head off!).
Here is Cecily playing with her new toys from Guatemala. Rory brought her back a pretty giraffe.. like her book Cecily G and the Nine Monkeys. And friends from the mission team brought her back this fun llama.

Here's Rory getting a little quality time with Cecily and Mario Kart.

Off into the Sunset

I thought this was a fitting photo to end our Victoria trip. Here is Cecily walking off into the sunset with Nanny and Poppy on our last night in Victoria. Thanks- Nanny and Poppy- for such a wonderful trip! Cecily and I had a wonderful time and Rory was at ease knowing that we were in such good hands.
